PLANNING A STAY
The ferry from Auckland to Waiheke, which sails past Rangitoto and other
islands in the Hauraki Gulf takes about 35 minutes. There is a car available
for you down at the ferry terminal so you don't need to worry about hiring
other transport. The drive to The Black Boathouse at Arran Bay is about
40 minutes, and the road is sealed almost all the way.
SLEEPING
The house has two bedrooms with one super-king size bed and one queen
size bed. With no city for miles you'll only be disturbed by the dawn
chorus of birds and the lapping sound of the ocean.
EATING AND DRINKING
For your stay you need to bring your own food and beverages. There is
a supermarket on the way to Arran Bay so you don't have to carry food
over from Auckland. It has a good selection of produce and wines, but
if you have specific foods you need for diet or health reasons you may
want to bring these. The house has a modern kitchen with everything you
might need to make and eat your culinary masterpieces. There is also a
gas BBQ if you decide you'd rather cook out on the deck in the sunshine.
THE BEACH AND BOATSHED
Take the short winding path through the pohutukawa trees and palms to
the boatshed and beach, which provides safe and sheltered swimming. If
you're feeling lazy then sitting on the end of the jetty is a perfect
way to pass time. For more action you'll find in the boatshed; four kayaks,
a safe stable dinghy, life jackets, petanque and beach mats.
ENTERTAINMENT
We recommend exploring Arran Bay and the beautiful surrounding area. Alternatively,
you can relax lounging on the deck or in the day house beside the beach.
If that doesn't appeal, the selection of books, music, board games, Sky
TV and DVDs provided will ensure you won't get bored.
WAIHEKE
ISLAND / OTHER ATTRACTIONS
Only 35 minutes from New Zealand's largest city, Waiheke Island is the
largest island lying inside the Hauraki Gulf. With its superb beaches,
quiet bays and inlets, award winning vineyards and olive groves, restaurants
and cafes, it's a perfect getaway from the pace of Auckland.

PHONE
While the bay enjoys mobile phone reception, there is a telephone for
you to use for local calls and emergencies. Any telephone charges incurred
during your stay will be charged on to you.
LAUNDRY
There is a washing machine and dryer with washing powder provided.
